Education is a partnership of what happens in the classroom and what happens at home. Parents, caregivers, and whānau play an important role in supporting their child’s learning and development. 

As part of our focus on lifting student achievement, this year we have introduced a new curriculum. This means we are currently changing from the old to the refreshed curriculum. This includes new teaching and assessment methods and content.

YOUR CHILD's REPORT

Schools are legally required to report at least twice a year (i.e. mid & end). At Hāwera Primary your child’s report is always live and available in 'real-time' on Hero. You can access this by selecting the ‘2025 Report’ on the dropdown menu or via the specific subject pages e.g. ‘Reading’. 

Each time your child’s goals are altered throughout the year it automatically updates their report.

The report information is based on teacher observations, classroom tasks and a range of other assessments (e.g. tests). Please refer to the summary sheet below for further clarification of the various components.

You may see a change in your child’s achievement level compared to previous years which may be a result of changes in the curriculum expectations for your child’s year level. This does not yet summarise the progress they are making which we will incorporate into our end of year reporting.
